In response to the receding water levels of the Yamuna River in Delhi, the city government has made the decision to lift the restrictions on the entry of heavy goods vehicles starting from Wednesday. Earlier, on July 13, the government had imposed a ban on the entry of heavy goods vehicles, except those transporting essential items, at the four borders, including Singhu, as a precautionary measure due to the rising water levels of the Yamuna.
On July 17, the government announced a partial lifting of the restrictions, and on Tuesday, they declared that the curbs have been completely lifted. The new order stated, “Considering the improvement in the flood situation and the descending water level of the Yamuna River, the Competent Authority has decided to withdraw all restrictions… effective from 19-07-2023 (July 19).” As of 5 pm, the Yamuna’s water level was recorded at 205.43 meters, still slightly above the danger mark of 205.33 meters.
